Oktoberfest
Once a year, Whiteface dusts off its lederhosen, fires up the oompah band and enjoys a tall mug of German beer. Oktoberfest is a weekend-long celebration of Bavarian culture, with authentic music, dancing, food and beer. But it's not just about eating and drinking (not that there's anything wrong with that). You'll find complimentary rides for kids and adults, craft vendors and discounted trips on the Cloudsplitter Gondola to the summit of Little Whiteface. The views from up there will make it pretty clear why October in the Adirondacks is something worth celebrating.
Dsb:

Festival-goers across the nation have a love affair going on with America's number one German Band, (dSb) die Schlauberger. And no wonder - this band is a powerhouse of musical expertise and expends enough energy to light up not only the crowd, but the fairgrounds, too. From the moment they step on stage until they have wrung the final note from their last song, die Schlauberger has the audience up and dancing to their powerful renditions of German favorites and other crowd pleasing tunes. Appearances on television shows, movies and television commercials such as HP IPOD and others are witness of their popularity. die Schlauberger engages everyone within earshot to "expect the unexpected." Don't miss the band whose very mission is "Keeping the Traditionalists on their Feet and the New Generation Interested."
SPITZE!

SPITZE! is a German - American Alpine Show Band that has been featured at some of the largest Oktoberfests in the USA. We have gathered 7 of the finest musicians around to provide you with an unmatched, energetic sound that will delight audiences of all ages. Whether it's traditional or modern Alpine sounds or even American Favorites, be assured that "SPITZE!" will make your Oktoberfest a complete success!
SPITZE! has the infectious ability to get the audience involved. Their amazing alpine show features cowbells, the alpine xylophone, the alphorn and of course - yodeling. Do you want to really engage in the Oktoberfest spirit? Then join in for our march-along, yodel and Schuhplattler (Bavarian Folk Dancing) contests or even the world famous chicken dance.
For the past several years, their shows have charmed crowds at Taj Mahal (Atlantic City), Six Flags Great Escape, Newport Waterfront Festival and the Hunter Mountain German Alps Festival - just to mention a few. They have also had the honor of being the ONLY German-American Band to perform with Volksmusik (Bavarian Folk Music) singing stars such as Edith Prock, Gitti & Erika and Nina & Mike.
Schachtelgebirger Musikanten:

Whiteface Mountain would like to welcome Schachtelgebirger Musikanten to our Oktoberfest. They will be performing in the Cloudspin Lounge on Saturday and on Sunday. Be sure to check out this lively duo!
The Alpenland Taenzer:
In 1960, Walter Kober had the idea to promote and perpetuate a part of the culture of his homeland, Austria, where he danced and competed in "Schuhplattin" (slap dancing). He originated the group now known as "The Alpenland Taenzer" of New Britain, Connecticut.
Our 30th year (1990) was very significant for the Alpenland Taenzer. We were nominated and accepted as members of the "Gauverband Nordamerica", a nationally and internationally known organization promoting German Heritage throughout the United States and Canada. Another accomplishment of 1990 was the establishment of our "Kindergruppe" (children and junior group). The Kindergruppe is comprised of 8-10 couples ages 3-19. Older members of the Kindergruppe also dance in the adult group.
Our adult group has between 8-10 active dancing couples. One of our active dancers is a founding member of the Alpenland Taenzer! In 2010 we will be celebrating our 50th Anniversary with a grand celebration.
Lake Placid Bavarians

The Lake Placid Bavarians have been performing traditional Bavarian music in the north country for the last 19 years. Always seen at Oktoberfest and many other ORDA events, the lederhosen-clad trio play, sing, joke and lead sing-alongs and authentic dances as part of their high-energy entertainment.
Ed Kreil is the lead singer and accordion player. He is also Whiteface Mountain's ski school director. He is a native Bavarian and has played all over the world. He can often be seen playing his accordion while skiing down the slopes!
Mike Saulpaugh, a Lake Placid native, is the tuba player. He is a professional musician with an extensive background and teaches at North Country Community College.
Bob Sweet plays trumpet with the group. He is also a music teacher and performs with a number of ensembles in and out of the area.
