Part of the Leadville Qualifying Series
The Leadville Qualifying Series races are designed both to provide qualifying opportunities for riders to get into this year's Leadville Trail 100 and also provide an excellent opportunity to race and ride in some of the most beautiful and challenging terrain in the Adirondacks. This 100 kilometer race will provide entry to 100 athletes into this year's Leadville Trail 100.
Wilmington/Whiteface 100k - June 17 - Wilmington is the biking capital of the Adirondacks.
The course finishes at Whiteface Mountain which was the site of the 1980 Winter Olympics alpine ski races.
Along with mountain bikers, this race also appeals to road cyclists and triathletes who aspire to ride off-road. They are long and hard, with lots of climbing, but similar to the classic course at Leadville, lack technically demanding singletrack trails, and consist mainly of rugged jeep roads and gravel and dirt roads. The LQS courses are challenging yet do not require exceptional bike handling skills. They are a perfect cross-over event if you are a roadie or triathlete and are looking for something hard yet different.
The event will coincide with the second
Wilmington Bike Fest, which will include the
Whiteface Uphill Bike Race on Saturday, June 16, plus live entertainment, barbecues and more.
