Plan Your Trip

As a two-time host to the Winter Olympics, Lake Placid made its name as the winter sports capital of the world. But this mountain village is much more than just a venue for athletic achievement. It's a thriving Adirondack community of some 3,000 year-round residents. It's home to world-class hotels, cozy B&Bs and affordable hostels. From one end of Main Street to the other are restaurants for every budget, boutiques full of works by local artisans and cafes and pubs where deep sofas and warm smiles await.

Lake Placid sits next to two lakes: Mirror Lake - busy with dog-sledding, skating, the toboggan chute and cross-country skiing all winter long; and the beautiful body of water after which it was named.

Get your kicks outside, then come in and relax. Curl up by a fire in your room overlooking the lake. Send the kids to a movie while you treat yourself to a massage. Maybe catch some live music or just catch up with friends while enjoying a night out.
