Lake Placid Loppet

Lake Placid Loppet

Celebrating 30 years 1982 - 2012

lake placid loppet logo The Lake Placid Loppet has established itself as one of the best events of its kind in the country. Since 1981, thousands of skiers have enjoyed skiing and racing on the challenging Mt. Van Hoevenberg trails at the Olympic Sports Complex.

The Lake Placid Loppet is your race. It's a chance for you get out on a course that follows—almost exactly—the course laid out for the 1980 Winter Olympics and see what you've got. And have fun. The Loppet, held annually for more than a quarter-century, is part of the American Ski Marathon Series. It’s open to everyone and attracts scores of skiers from near and far. You can enter either the 50 km or 25 km race as either a classic or free skier, and you’ll share the course with skiers who train year-round and others who have never before worn a bib number. It’s tough, it's demanding and, winding through stands of Adirondack forest, it’s beautiful.
