Today was sooooo chilly, but sooooo fun!!!  I loved it abut am making the call that tomorrow will be the best day of the season.  The summit opens, we will be spinning the summit quad and skiing/riding Riva's Ridge, The Follies, and Parons Run.

 Seriously, you do not want to miss it at all, trust me. 

 We also discuss Stars on Ice and how I had to turn them down.  Of course I am absiolutely going to watch the show tomorrow night, it is always awesome and as you know we are the training ice for Stars so I am hometown proud.  How many Stars have you seen in LP this week?

 Today I chat about trail openings and give you some insider tips on how to beat the crowds.

Today we discuss how happy we are for the return of winter!!!  Can I get a "heck-yeah"?  (yes, I went there)  Anyhoo, our snowmakers are trigger happy and they are stoked to hammer out snow 24/7 now that winter is back for good (please note I have heart to heart with Mother Nature and she is on the same page as us)  I also give props to our groomers as they have been finding snow in any nook and cranny possible this week as we were the only mountain in the state open at one point....luckily more of our awesome NYS mountains have been opening this weekend and we are super happy for them as well!  At the end of the day it is all about quality family time ripping it up no matter where you are.  right????? 

I also discuss my Adirondack triathlon day today.  I ran a 5k Jingle bell Run with a respectable finish---I believe my medal doubles as a bottle opener even which I am more than happy to try out.  I also went bobsledding and then did the skeleton at the Olympic Sports Complex.  I think I now have the eye of the tiger and will be going for a spot on the World championship USA team for skeleton. 

Tonight give a shout out during the Festivus Faceoff Clarkson vs St Lawrence University.  My friend Mary E and I will be the halftime show...lol...I was trying to get OC GM Denny Allen to let me where my Sonja Henie tribute costume and he declined.  I will be the girl on the ice sporting USA hockey jersey.  Truly this could be the new miracle on ice......

oh what a fun day!!!!!!   

In conclusion.......If I told you once I have told you a million times......Life is all about giving it a shot and getting out there.  Is it optimal - no - is it better than watching cheesy Lifetime Christmas movies on your couch?  ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!  GET OUTSIDE TOMORROW AND PARTICIPATE IN AN OUTDOOR ACTIVITIY!

Today I definitely overuse the word awesome as we picked up over 14 inches of the fresh stuff from Mother Nature overnight.  Sometimes that lady is a real peach and we are besties for sure.  Now, in today's podcast we discuss opening plans and I give you some inside juice as to what will go down on opening day.  It is going to be interesting and the best way I can describe it is that we will be seeing some audibles in the playlist.  (yes, I am originally from Buffalo and this is a term I learned during the Jim Kelly QB years). 

It is also important to note that scenic Cloudsplitter gondola rides will be available this Saturday and Sunday.

At this time I would like to remind all of our skiers and riders that this holiday season it is all about being thankful for super awesome family times, because at the end of the day family is always first and foremost #1 on the list.  With that said eat a lot of turkey and then burn it off with #2 on the list: skiing and riding with your awesome family at Whiteface.   I particularly am thankful for my family *shout out to the family* and also for my extended family at Whiteface, I am so excited to see you back on the mountain once again for another season full of fun, good times and total awesomeness!

Today I discuss all of the amazing improvements happening at the mountain.  Our awesome staff are totally stoked for the winter and projects are nearing completion. 

Weather pending snowmaking begins on the 14th with opening day scheduled for Nov 25th. 

Once again pending cooperation from my bff Mother Nature we will open with Cloudsplitter Gondola, Face Lift, Mixing Bowl.  Trails will be Excelsier, Upper Valley, Lower Valley, Summit Express, Fox and Mixing Bowl.  WE are hoping for beginner skiing and riding opening day.

In todays snowcast I also attempt to pull a prank and it really ended up soooo lame.  I am apologizing in advance for my terrible delivery, but I do not have time to re-snowcast.  And to tell you the point I think we are all comfortable with each other at this point of the Bridget-Widget lifespan to know that this happens from time to time.  It is what makes it real.

 Please note I totally overuse the words stoked, psyched, super awesome a ton tonight so be prepared to play any time of game you would like.  :)

Today we have a lot to catch up on, fall is here my friends and that can only mean one thing winter isn't too far behind....can I get a yahoo?

Tonight ended up being a long one because I have a lot of inside scoop to tell you about at the mountain.  We are super busy with improvements and new additions at the mountain for this winter.  Here about it here first!

Oktoberfest is this weekend at Whiteface and your favorite ski shops will be here too.

Today we have special guest star Sean Donovan joining us.  Sean is a retired NYS State Trooper and is here to discuss the State Police Hockey Tournament next weekend at the Olympic Center.  

These fine state police officers from the Northeast are not only playing hockey, but they are raising funds to support families of fallen officers and also donating to various charities including the Bobby Preston Scholarship Fund.

I have returned and apologize for my brief absence, but we have a lot to cover this week! 

  There is a lot happening in the Adirondacks this summer and the weather has been amazing.  Days in the 70’s nights in the high 50’s to low 60’s with a couple of fun little storms thrown in.  It has been magical.  Let’s get a temp of Mirror Lake and give Greg Borzillerri a call.  We also discuss Lake Placid Ironman and how I will be a spotter on the boat during the swim portion.  I am all about safety!

Now onto Whiteface happenings the Whiteface Veterans Memorial highway is open daily 9am until 4pm if you are a super ambitious cyclist please note you need to pass by the tollhouse by 3pm to begin your ascent. 

The memorial highway offers amazing views of the Adirondack high peaks, on super clear days you can see Mount Royal in montreal and the green mountains of Vermont.

This summer reviews have been fantastic for our new menu at the Castle Café.  This is New York States highest restaurant!  Once at the castle you can walk the remainder to the summit or enter a 426 foot tunnel that is a crisp 38 degrees year round then an elevator 276 feet up to the top of the mountain.  Personally I believe we should have elevator serviced skiing and riding in the winter, how awesome would that be?

The Scenic Clousplitter Gondola installed in 1999 is another awesome way to see the views of the high peaks.  Open daily 9am until 3:30pm.  Afterwards try a round of disc golf or go mountain biking with Downhill Mike.  We also feature Nature Treks daily at 10:30am featuring a guided hike up the Ausable River Trail and then concluding at the amazing Stag Brook Falls they are so gorgeous.  Nature Treks include a picnic lunch and gondola ride too!  Then for the more adventuresome try our Bear Den Picnic Hike Wednesdays at 10am a guide will go up our newest hiking trail with you telling tales of the ski resort and stories of the building of Lookout Mountain trail system.  Participants also receive their very own high sierra camelback backpack with lunch they get to keep.  It is pretty sweet.

Now on to special events:  Every Wednesday watch freestyle aerial athletes soar at the Olympic Jumping Complex.  This is an amazing show to watch current and up and coming Olympic athletes. 

Today we discuss how awesome spring is what we have to look forward to this summer.  Super awesome activities for everyone!

I also would like to take a moment to tell you how appreciative we are that you are a part of the Olympic Mountain!  Thank you for skiing and riding with us, You have been awesome friends to the mountain and perhaps we don't take enough time just to say THANK YOU. 

I can assure you our crews have been on it; working to make the mountain even better for next winter. 

So I definitely look forward to seeing you next winter, but also hope you will be able to join me for a disc golf round too.

Today was an amazing day on the mountain and was another spectacular day, as I write this I can hear the laughter of families and children on the decks below my office.  So much fun!!!!  These are the days that make the subzero temps in January worth it!!

 I had a terrific time today with our special guest stars on the Bridget Widget stress free cruising the blues tour.  Particularly when we ended up on a black diamond trail that goes by the name of Lookout Below.  It was amazing and I am psyched that I have knocked that trail off my things to do list.

Today was EPIC!!!!  I fell in love with Whiteface all over again!  Seriously totally amazing day, conditions were out of this world and officially Whiteface has had the most snowfall on the planet this past week which is pretty huge http://www.skiinfo.co.uk/Snowreport-Snowfall-Last-seven-Days-6891-en.jhtml 

 I skied with my girlfriends today and my friends Katrina and Mary talked me into skiing Empire, halfway down I remembered that I was following a former member of the US Ski Team.  omg and hat trick Mary, both of whom are fearless!  Wow, thanks ladies for pushing me out of my comfort level. 

I in turn gave that gift to our friend Mary Elizabeth as we took her to the summit of Little Whiteface for the first time and she killed it!  So awesome!  and Bravo to Mary E and Kelly Kennedy rocked it and even skied between my legs and hit features in the terrain park. 

Girls rule.  Tonight I have ballet and then will be cruising the mountain with our groomers in one of our brand new snowcats.  Expect a full report on Friday.
