Discover Biathlon at the Olympic Sports Complex
It began, they say, more than a century ago as a training exercise for Norwegian soldiers, which goes a long way toward explaining how cross-country skiing and riflery met. The result is the biathlon, the only sport that involves ski wax and bullets. And this is one of the few places you can learn about it and experience being a biathlete!
During the winter season, take an in depth look at this sport that combines freestyle skiing and rifle marksmanship. Take a ski lesson to start the program or just join us on the range to zero in your shooting skills. You will be treated to an hour-long PSIA ski lesson, an informative video on Biathlon, and professional instruction on our Olympic Biathlon Range.
In the summer months, obviously you can't ski the trails without snow, but our instructors will still get your heart racing—the idea being to simulate the rush biathletes feel as they try to line up a target. Then you'll step up to the range, take aim, and fire a real, competition-style .22-caliber rifle at the same targets used at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. Come out and see how you do; it's worth a shot! Save 20% on Discover Biathlon with your Olympic Sites Passport.
